Warner Bros.’ movie Wonka, starring Timothée Chalamet, continues to top the box office charts in the U.K. and Ireland. After its sixth weekend, it has made an impressive £56.1 million, with £2.2 million earned recently.
Disney’s “Poor Things,” a Golden Globe winner directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and featuring Emma Stone, had a strong debut, earning £1.8 million. Sony’s “Anyone But You” is in third place in its third weekend, having made a total of £5.3 million. Warner Bros.’ “One Life” follows closely, earning £1,246,292 in its second weekend for a total of £5.8 million.
The Beekeeper, released by Sky Cinema/Studiocanal, rounds out the top five with earnings of £956,380. Another new entry, Warner Bros.’ The Boys In The Boat” landed in the tenth spot, opening with £270,297.
Upcoming releases include the much-awaited “Mean Girls,” starring a host of talents, including Angourie Rice and Auli’i Cravalho. It’s set to open in over 300 locations. Also, Pathé Live is releasing the concert film Queen Rock Montreal.
The award season sees new contenders like “The End We Start From” featuring Jodie Comer and Universal’s “The Holdovers” with Paul Giamatti. The Slamdance-winning comedy “The Civil Dead” and the documentary “Werner Herzog: Radical Dreamer” are also set to release, alongside the 50th anniversary re-release of “The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser.”
