Big names from the UK’s movie and TV scene, as well as others from around the globe, are giving away special items and experiences to help raise funds for Gaza. This effort, called Cinema for Gaza, aims to support the work of Medical Aid for Palestinians, especially now as the region faces severe challenges.
Tilda Swinton, Ken Loach, Asia Kapadia, Ramy Youssef, Peter Capaldi, and several other celebrities are contributing unique items and experiences for an auction starting on April 2. For example, you could win a bedtime story read by Swinton via Zoom, a cooking lesson on making the perfect porridge from Josh O’Connor, a discussion on astrology with Aimee Lou Wood from “Sex Education,” a drink with “Saltburn’s” Oliver, or tickets to Ramy Youssef’s comedy show, including a chance to meet him.
Additionally, there are signed collectibles from popular shows like “Downton Abbey” and “Doctor Who,” and movie posters signed by famous directors. There’s also the chance to chat over Zoom with actors like Joseph Quinn and Paapa Essiedu.
The organizers of Cinema for Gaza highlight the urgent need for support in Gaza, especially after six months of military actions that have severely impacted the area’s healthcare services. They emphasize the important role that art and political action can play in supporting those facing hardships in Gaza and other parts of the occupied Palestinian territory.

Medical Aid for Palestinians, an organization with a long history since the 1980s and offices in key locations, focuses on providing healthcare and upholding the dignity of Palestinians living under occupation or as refugees. They are currently addressing the crisis in Gaza, which worsened after recent conflicts initiated by Hamas in Southern Israel on October 7. Source
