Jonathan Majors, a well-known actor, was ordered to undergo a year of counseling for domestic violence after he was found guilty last year for attacking and bothering his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. He must attend a special program for domestic violence that lasts 52 weeks in Los Angeles, where he lives now. In addition to this, he has to keep going to therapy for his mental health and update on how he’s doing.
This decision came from Judge Michael Gaffey in a courtroom in lower Manhattan, nearly four months after Majors was convicted of two lesser charges of harassment and assault against Jabbari. His sentencing was initially scheduled for January but got pushed to April due to his legal team trying to delay it with legal motions, which didn’t work.
On the day of his sentencing, Majors came to court with his girlfriend, the actor Meagan Good, and greeted his family and supporters there. Jabbari also spoke in court, expressing her concern that Majors hadn’t accepted his guilt or responsibility for his actions, and she feared he would harm someone again.
The judge decided not to give Majors jail time, pointing out that this was his first criminal offense. Majors didn’t react much during the court session and chose not to speak.
Majors was arrested in March 2023 following an incident where he reportedly attacked Jabbari in a car. He has denied the accusations, and his defense argued that Jabbari was the one causing trouble that night.
Jabbari has also filed a lawsuit against Majors for assault, defamation (because of what he said in an interview), and other claims, suggesting there were other incidents of violence before the one in March 2023. The lawsuit includes text messages between the two as part of its evidence, indicating Majors’s attempts to control Jabbari’s actions and threats of self-harm.
After the verdict, Majors lost his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he was playing a new villain, and his career seems uncertain. He was also let go by his management and publicity teams. Source
