The new Ghostbusters movie, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, did well at the box office, but not great. It made $45.2 million in its opening weekend, which is just a bit more than the last movie in the series.
The movie is expected to do better in the coming weeks because of spring break, but it will have a lot of competition from another big movie coming out next weekend.
Critics were mixed on the movie, but audiences seemed to enjoy it a bit more. The movie follows a group of new Ghostbusters who team up with the original crew to stop a ghost from causing another ice age.
Another new movie this weekend was Immaculate, a horror film starring Sydney Sweeney. The movie did alright, making $5.3 million in its opening weekend. Critics were not very impressed, but audiences weren’t scared away either.
In other box office news, Dune: Part Two stayed in second place, making $17.6 million. Kung Fu Panda 4 dropped to third place but still did well with $16.8 million. Arthur the King rounded out the top five with $4.4 million.
An independent movie called Late Night With the Devil had a strong opening weekend, making $2.8 million. This is the biggest opening weekend ever for the company that released the movie. Source
