The Oscar-winning actor is in talks to join the new Jurassic World sequel, currently being developed by Universal. Once the deal is finalized, he will join the cast, which already includes Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Rupert Friend.
Gareth Edwards will direct this upcoming film, written by David Koepp, who penned the original Jurassic Park screenplay. Universal plans to release the action-adventure movie in theaters on July 2, 2025.
While the plot details are still under wraps, this new installment is expected to kick off a new trilogy, following the three Jurassic Park and three Jurassic World films. The 2022 film Jurassic World Dominion concluded the previous trilogy with a global box office of $1 billion.
Since Steven Spielberg’s original Jurassic Park in 1994, the franchise has become one of Universal’s most valuable properties over the last 30 years, inspiring theme park rides and numerous toys.

Spielberg will serve as executive producer for this new film through Amblin Entertainment. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will produce through Kennedy-Marshall. Universal’s executive VP of production development Sara Scott and creative executive of production development Jacqueline Garell will oversee the project for the studio.
The actor in talks for the new film has won two Oscars for Moonlight and Green Book. He recently starred in Netflix’s apocalyptic thriller Leave the World Behind alongside Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke and voiced a character in Sony’s animated Spider-Verse series. On television, he is known for his roles in Ramy, HBO’s True Detective, and Netflix’s House of Cards. He is represented by WME, Cognition, Relevant, and Sloane, Offer, Weber, and Dern, LLP. Source
