Hugh Jackman decided to return to his role as Wolverine in the upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine film without even consulting his agent first. During an interview with Fandango alongside co-star Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy, Jackman shared that while he was driving, he suddenly felt a strong urge to make the movie with Reynolds.
He remembered thinking about how great it would be for Deadpool and Wolverine to team up, ever since the first Deadpool movie. Even though he had previously declared he was done with the Wolverine character after the 2017 movie Logan, he couldn’t shake the idea of reuniting the two characters.
Upon reaching his destination, Jackman immediately called Reynolds to agree to the project, only informing his agent afterward about his commitment. However, not everyone was excited about his return. Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios.

He has initially advised Jackman against reprising his Wolverine role, citing the perfect conclusion of the character in Logan. But Jackman was reassured by the fact that in the Marvel universe, the flexibility of timelines meant he wouldn’t be disrupting the storyline of Logan.
Jackman explained that this timeline flexibility would allow him to explore new aspects of Wolverine that haven’t been shown in previous films. The movie Deadpool and Wolverine, set to release on July 26 by Disney, promises to unveil these new dimensions of Wolverine’s character. Source
