The remake of the classic movie Road House starring Jake Gyllenhaal seems to be a big hit on Prime Video. Over 50 million viewers around the world tuned in during the first two weekends, making it the most-watched movie ever launched directly on the streaming service Amazon.
However, there are some questions about the numbers. It’s not clear exactly how much of the movie people actually watched to be counted as a view, and the results combine two weekends of data instead of the usual one.
Despite these uncertainties, the movie did very well. Based on viewing time, it was the most popular original movie on streaming that week. There was some controversy surrounding the release, though. The director wasn’t happy that the movie wasn’t shown in theaters first and only went straight to Prime Video.
Amazon reportedly offered Doug Liman and Jake Gyllenhaal the option to make ‘ROAD HOUSE’ for $60 million and get a theatrical release or take $85 million and go streaming only.
They chose the latter.

But regardless, the action-packed film with a cast including Jake Gyllenhaal, Billy Magnussen, and Jessica Williams seems to be a crowd-pleaser. Source
