Sony’s new movie, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, just became the most-watched film in the UK and Ireland, making £4 million ($5.1 million). This ended the popular Dune: Part II movie’s lead at the box office after three weeks. Dune: Part II came in second this time, making £2.6 million in its fourth week, with a total of £30.7 million so far.
A scary movie called Immaculate, with Sydney Sweeney, started strong, earning £522,583 and landing in third place. Wicked Little Letters, in its fifth week, took fourth place with £373,505, reaching a total of £8.1 million. The fifth spot went to Migration, bringing in £370,464 in its eighth week, for a total earnings of £19.5 million.
There were also new movies making it into the top 10. Late Night With The Devil earned £220,436, coming in seventh, and Romeo Et Juliette – Met Opera 2023/24 took the 10th spot with £81,880.
With Easter coming up, many new movies are set to release. On Wednesday, March 27, there’s a music documentary about Nickelback called Hate To Love: Nickelback, and a drama-thriller starring Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway titled Mother’s Instinct. Kung Fu Panda 4 is also releasing, with a star-studded cast including Jack Black and Awkwafina, followed by Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire on Friday.

Film festival fans have a lot to look forward to as well, with a variety of acclaimed movies from around the world. These include Drift, Disco Boy The Sweet East, and Cidade Rabat, among others. There are also releases like Opus, a film about the late Ryuichi Sakamoto, and other award-winning films from different festivals.
