John Krasinski and Ryan Reynolds are hoping for big success this weekend with their latest movie venture, IF. The movie, which revolves around the theme of imaginary friends, has already raked in $1.75 million during preview screenings at the box office. Positioned as a family-friendly offering from Paramount, IF is poised to overtake last week’s box office champion, Disney’s The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
Projections suggest that IF could bring in anywhere between $35 million to $45 million in its opening weekend, a promising start considering its PG rating and original storyline. However, with a hefty production budget of $110 million, the movie will need strong international box office earnings to turn a profit.
John Krasinski not only wrote but also directed IF, in which Reynolds stars alongside young talent Cailey Fleming. The plot follows two neighbors, Cal (played by Reynolds) and Bea (portrayed by Fleming), who possess the ability to see abandoned imaginary friends.
Together, they embark on a mission to reunite these imaginary companions with their respective children. The film boasts an impressive voice cast including Steve Carell, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Awkwafina, Amy Schumer, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who voice the imaginary friends.
