In the battle for the top spot at the box office in the UK and Ireland, “Migration,” an animated film from Universal, has taken flight, outperforming the star-studded heist movie “Argylle.”

“Migration” made a strong debut, generating £3.5 million (approximately $4.4 million) in box office revenue, as reported by Comscore. In contrast, “Argylle,” which has had a less successful run globally, landed in second place with earnings of £2 million.

In the third position, Paramount’s “Mean Girls” continued its solid performance in its third weekend, adding £843,601 to its total, which now stands at £6.8 million. Disney’s “All of Us Strangers” secured the fourth spot, collecting £797,004 in its second weekend, bringing its total earnings to £2.7 million.

Completing the top five was A24’s “The Zone of Interest,” which made its debut with £585,855 in box office earnings. The only other newcomer to the top 10 was Curzon-Amazon MGM’s “American Fiction,” which brought in £389,375.

Looking ahead, there are several upcoming releases to anticipate. On Wednesday, February 7, the horror-comedy “Dagr” from Fizz and Ginger Films is set to hit theaters. The following day, on February 8, audiences can look forward to the release of the Tamil-language sports and gangster drama “Lal Salaam,” featuring Indian superstar Rajinikanth.

A variety of films are also scheduled for release on the upcoming Friday. Modern Films will premiere Steve McQueen’s war documentary “Occupied City,” which had its debut at Cannes in 2023.

Furthermore, Disney and Pixar have planned the release of three feature films in cinemas this year, leading up to the June theatrical debut of “Inside Out 2.” First up is “Turning Red” from 2022, set to hit theaters in February, followed by “Soul” from 2020 in March and “Luca” from 2021 in April.

Lionsgate will release the sports biography “Iron Claw,” featuring Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, and Harris Dickinson.

In celebration of Chinese New Year, Trinity will release the comedy-drama sequel “Table for Six 2,” which boasts a star-studded cast.

Additional releases include “Gassed Up,” the BFI London Film Festival winner distributed by Vertigo Releasing, the Cannes-winning documentary “The Settlers,” and the Tull Stories Sheffield-winning documentary “Your Fat Friend” from Mubi.

For younger audiences, Trafalgar Releasing will present “Peppa’s Cinema Party,” and Signature Entertainment will offer a wide release of “The Jungle Bunch World Tour.”

Lastly, the Bollywood film Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, is set to debut in theaters on the same Friday.

As the release of Dune 2 approaches in March, Warner Bros. is planning to re-release the original Dune. Additionally, Park Circus is bringing back two classic films: Po-Chih Leong’s 1986 neo-noir comedy-drama “Ping Pong” and the 90th-anniversary 4K restoration of Frank Capra’s It Happened One Night.
