Agnes Jaoui, a highly respected French actor, screenwriter, and filmmaker, is set to receive an honorary Cesar Award at the upcoming 49th edition of the event, which will take place at the Olympia Concert Hall on February 23.

Agnes Jaoui is known for her long-lasting collaboration with the late Jean-Pierre Bacri, spanning over three decades. Together, they worked on numerous films that received both critical acclaim and were successful at the box office. One of their notable collaborations was “The Taste of Others,” which notched up two Cesar Awards and even earned an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film in 2001. They also presented “Look at Me” at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004. Additionally, Agnes Jaoui has had a flourishing solo career, with roles in the popular series “En therapies” and films such as “La vie de ma mere,” which was honored at the Angouleme Festival, and Noé Debré’s “A Nice Jewish Boy,” recently acquired for U.S. distribution.

Agnes Jaoui and Jean-Pierre Bacri received Cesar awards for their screenplays in movies like Alain Resnais’ “Smoking/No Smoking” and Cédric Klapisch’s “Un Air de Famille.” In 1998, Agnes Jaoui also won a Cesar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Resnais’ On connait la chanson.

Notably, Agnes Jaoui holds the record for the most Cesar awards won by a female artist, with a total of six awards. She is recognized for her sharp wit and humor and is known for her engagement in political and social issues. She was personally affected by the October 7 attack by Hamas on Israel, where two members of her family lost their lives, and five others were kidnapped.
